Stains in the carpet. It is bound to happen sometime. Usually, a warm cloth with some green soap is enough. However, there are stains that require a different approach, in order to be removed. Below we explain the best tips for each specific stain. From now, on you will always get every stain out of your carpet.
In case of a wine stain, you first have to dab it with a dry towel, as it were. By doing this, you can remove excess wine that is still on the surface, without rubbing it into the fabric.
Then you have to pour a lot of vinegar over it. At least enough that the whole stain is covered with vinegar. Then pat the carpet dry again, preferably with a new cloth. Don’t start rubbing, this will make it even worse than it already is.
The last step is to sprinkle a large spoonful of baking soda over it. Brush and/or rub it in well with, for example, a toothbrush. Then pat the spot with a dry cloth. Tadaa! Your carpet is like new again!
There are stories going around that chocolate stains are permanent, but this is not always the case. There are ways to remove chocolate stains.
First of all, let the chocolate harden completely. Then use a blunt object to scrape the extra chocolate off the carpet. Now only the chocolate that has actually been drawn into the carpet remains. Then add a mixture of detergent and water (about 50/50) and cover the stain in its entirety. Then scrub the carpet thoroughly and pat dry.
Oil stains are no fun, but there are ways to remove even these stubborn stains.
Start by sprinkling a spoonful of cornstarch over the area where the stain is located. This makes the stain easier to remove. Now let the starch soak in for 30 minutes. Then pour some detergent over the area and brush it all into the carpet with a toothbrush. Brush firmly and add extra water if necessary. Then pat it dry and everything is as good as new again!
Coffee stains are awful. Gently dab off any coffee that has not yet been withdrawn. Then pour detergent and water over the spot and dab it in its place. Then brush with a small amount of vinegar. After a few minutes, dab it dry, and the carpet will be like new again.
If you have kids, you can’t get away from mud stains. Start by gently vacuuming the mud and wipe/brush up the rest. Then brush a mixture of detergent and water over the stain and let it soak in. Then pat dry, and you’re done.
In the case of ink stains, first pour a large amount of alcohol over the stain. Then dab away as much as possible from the stain. This process should be repeated several times until all the ink has disappeared. Continue until the stain has disappeared and then your carpet will be like new again.
Candles wax can cause troublesome stains. If you have such a stain on your carpet, do the following:
Place a damp paper towel over the stain. Then rub an iron on medium heat over the towel. After a few minutes, the wax will melt. Repeat this until all the wax has disappeared from the fabric. Then pour alcohol over the area and brush it in. Tada, that wasn’t too bad!
