If you’re not that handy or creative in the kitchen and don’t have all the kitchen utensils you need, then there are always a few lifehacks you can try, to make the work in the kitchen just a little bit easier (and more fun!). Take a look at the following tricks you can definitely use!
No need for a corkscrew to open a wine bottle
Suppose you have visitors. For the occasion, you have bought a wedge of cheese and a bottle of wine. However, there is one problem: you don’t have a corkscrew to uncork the bottle! What do you do? You can sit and mope, but when you hold a lighter next to the neck of the bottle, the cork will – due to the heat – come off by itself!
Keep an avocado longer

If you cut open an avocado, but only eat half of the green fruit, it is wise to eat the other half within a day. After you cut it in half, the shelf life goes quickly. The next day the avocado will be brown already. However, you can remedy this by dripping a little lemon juice on top of it, it will keep the avocado green for longer.
Remove the core from an apple

By cutting off the upper part of a (hospital) syringe, you can make a handy tool to squeeze the core out of an apple. After the syringe part is removed from the plastic tool, push the syringe in the middle of the apple. Then the core will disappear into the tube of the syringe, allowing you to eat the apple in its entirety, without seeds or stems.
Cut a kiwi creatively

If you would like to serve your guests a little more fun after dinner, you can cut open a kiwi in a zigzag way. It doesn’t take much affort. For example: you can put a kind of kiwi crown in the middle of the dessert plate, which looks a bit more professional…
Make an apple turtle or crab!

Another great idea to serve fruit in a creative way is to cut it so that it resembles an animal. For example, take a look at the apple above. By putting the fruit in the middle and then removing a few small pieces, you can easily create the body of a turtle. The only thing left is a green grape that can attach as the head.

Another animal you can make from a sliced apple is a crab, as you can see in the picture above. That might be even more fun than the turtle!
Press eggs into pieces

If you want to have eggs for a salad in small pieces, you can of course just chop them into pieces, but there is a much faster way: put the (boiled) eggs on the counter and then press them down with a grill grid. Because of the small compartments, the eggs will be ‘cut’ into small pieces, so you can add them directly (and easily) to your salad.
