Students are known to be relatively ‘poor’. Therefore, life as a student can seem expensive. They have to pay tuition fees, rent, their phone bill, health insurance, food and travel, as a minimum. In addition, they usually spend a lot of time behind their college desks, so there is little time to earn an extra dollar.

The advantage of an almost empty pocket is that you have to be creative in order to save some money. Here are some tricks that can help you to make some cheap things with little money.
Create an amplifier for your phone
The music from your mobile phone often doesn’t sound loud enough when you put it on speakerphone. With this simple lifehack, you can change that. With a finished toilet roll and two plastic cups, you can make a speaker set. That way, having friends over becomes a little bit more of a party!

Make your own beamer
Suppose you are with a group of friends or family and you want to show a movie on your phone. It’s not very social to have everyone watch your phone separately, for minutes on end, so you might as well get a beamer. To save money, it is even possible to put it together yourself. All you need is a shoebox and a magnifying glass.

But how do you make it? Cut a hole the size of the magnifying glass in the front of the shoebox. Then place the magnifying glass in front of it. Then make a kind of stand on which you can put your smartphone horizontally, close the curtains and set the brightness of your smartphone’s screen to maximum. Finally, point the projector at the wall, and voilà.
Create an atmospheric light with your phone lamp
When you get visitors, but don’t actually have a cozy light in the house, you can easily solve this. Instead of switching on that huge light box on the ceiling, you can also use your phone for a cozy atmosphere light.

Put your phone down with the light up and then put a transparent plastic milk bottle on top, which you’ve filled with water.
Make your own phone stand
When you’re going to bed, but don’t have a bedside table next to you, you can use this handy trick to make sure your phone is next to you and easy to grab. What you need to do is simple: stick two towel hangers to the wall next to your bed. Instead of hanging a towel or tea towel on them, you can use them to put your phone in, as shown in the picture below.

Create a simple hanging system
Foldback clips aren’t just useful for clipping documents together. Have you ever thought about using them for cables or sunglasses? By attaching the clips to the edge of a table or desk, you can then insert cables or the legs of your sunglasses. That way, it doesn’t get tangled up, which would undoubtedly happen in your desk drawer…
