One of the hardest things about having a house is to make it smell even better than it looks. Just cooked food, are you a smoker or haven’t had the windows and doors open enough? You can smell it all and you want to get rid of it as soon as possible. Do you have to buy air fresheners? You can, but thanks to these 8 natural ways, you can also solve it naturally.
1. Eucalyptus
Do you like the smell of a spa? Then hang a small bunch of eucalyptus on your shower head and let the hot water run. The steam releases the aromas contained in the eucalyptus. Your shower will smell delicious again. This smell will also penetrate your hallway or bedroom!

2. Smelling pine cones
Looking for a lovely autumn fragrance for your home? Then make sure you get fragrant pine cones in the house. You will be surprised by how long this scent lingers in your home because the pine cones smell for so long.

3. Potpourri
The word may sound a little old-fashioned, but it absolutely works. Best of all, you can make a potpourri of your own choice. Do you like the smell of roses or vanilla? Then add these deliciously smelling items to your bowl and get ready for a delicious scent throughout your house!

4. Dried herbs
Hanging dried flowers, plants and herbs, such as lavender, in your home is also an easy and inexpensive way to create a natural scent in your home. Besides creating a nice scent, it also looks great as an accessory in your home.

5. Create your own air freshener
Make your own air freshener by mixing lemon juice, basil oil and water. This way you can still make it smell good in the house, without using (perhaps toxic and dangerous) chemicals in the house. The combination of these ingredients is also good to use for cleaning. This homemade air freshener is ideal when someone is allergic to certain chemicals.

6. Boiling a mess
Maybe this doesn’t sound ideal or perhaps a little messy. But believe me, it’s not. Put a pan of water on the cooker and let it simmer/boil. In the meantime, add nice smelling herbs. For example, cinnamon is my personal favorite. Add pieces of apple or orange peel and let it boil for a few minutes. You will be surprised how quickly this scent spreads throughout your home. Wonderful!

7. Houseplants
Indoor plants can help clean the air in the house. This will also remove the less tasty smells, and your house, with specific plants, will smell much nicer. There are several houseplants that clean the air of dirty odors. Check with your local garden center and get started!

8. Homemade lavender air freshener
Make your own delicious air freshener with lavender. Mix lavender with baking soda, purified water and pour into a siphon. Spray it into your bedroom and you’ll fall asleep. This can also be sprayed on your pillows and duvet cover, again a delicious, cheap and natural solution!
